# Add Rata to your home screen

Rata has no app in the App Store or Google Play. The web app on your home screen is the Rata app.

On the home screen, Rata opens in its own window with the Rata icon, like other apps. It also works offline. When we change Rata, your home screen app gets the change the next time it opens.

## Android (Chrome)

1. Open [app.rata.fyi](https://app.rata.fyi/) in Chrome.
2. On Home, the card "Add Rata to your home screen" shows. Tap **Add**, then **Install**.
3. If the card does not show, tap the menu (three dots) in Chrome, then **Add to home screen** or **Install app**.
4. Open Rata from your home screen.

## iPhone and iPad (Safari)

1. Open [app.rata.fyi](https://app.rata.fyi/) in Safari.
2. Tap **Share** in the browser bar.
3. Tap **Add to Home Screen**, then **Add**.
4. Open Rata from your home screen.

On an iPhone, the home screen app does not see the groups that you opened in Safari. So add Rata to the home screen before you make groups. If you already have groups in Safari: on Home, tap **Add** on the "Add Rata to your home screen" card, then **Copy**. Open the home screen app, sign in, tap **Join** on Home and paste. All your groups come with it, with your name in each group. The link has your group keys, so send it to nobody.

## The link opened inside WhatsApp or Instagram

The browser inside other apps cannot add Rata to the home screen. Open the menu of that browser and pick **Open in browser** (Android) or **Open in Safari** (iPhone). Then do the steps above.

## Hide the card

Tap the **X** on the card. The card stays hidden for 30 days.
