Rata Help

Money with one person

For money between you and one person, with no group. For example: money that you lend to a cousin, an advance to the cook, or money that you send to your parents each month.

Start

  1. Open You, then People.
  2. Tap + at the top and type the name of the person. Or open a person and tap Add money outside groups.
  3. Tap Start.

Only you can see it. Rata locks each entry on your phone before it leaves, the same as a group. Money with one person shows on People, not in the group list on Home.

I gave and I got

Tap I gave when you give money to the person, and I got when you get money from them. Type the amount and pick a label:

The label is a note for you. Rata does not move money, and it is not a proof: it keeps what you write down.

For a loan, you can set Pay back by. When you tap I gave and the person owes you money, Rata shows how much is still open first, so you see it before you lend again.

The total

The top of the page shows what the person owes you, or what you owe them. Under it, Rata shows how much you lent, how much came back, what you forgave and your gifts. On People, a person with a pay-back date that has come shows Due and the date.

Reminders

Tap Remind. Rata writes the message for you, so you do not have to find the words. The first reminders are gentle. After the pay-back date, or from the third reminder, the message is firmer. When you have a UPI ID in the settings, the message gives it, so the person can pay at once. Rata opens WhatsApp with the message. When the person has the Rata app and you shared the record with them, Rata sends a push. You can send one reminder each day.

Part payments by UPI

When you import bank statements in My money, Rata looks for UPI money from the person: by their UPI ID, or by their name when nobody else in your groups has that name. Each payment shows under From your bank. Tap Paid back to add it, or Not this to hide it. This check is done on your phone only.

Forgive the rest

Tap Forgive to close what the person still owes you. The entries stay, and the rest shows as forgiven. To undo it, tap the entry and delete it.

Share with the person

Tap Share to send the link. The person opens it, picks their name, and then sees the same entries. Both of you can add entries. Without the link, nobody else can read it.

Change or delete an entry

Tap the entry in the list. Change it, or delete it and tap Undo if necessary.
